cambodian jasmine rice

Cambodian Jasmine Rice

Jasmine Rice is primarily grown in the fields of Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. The level of volatility is high in the worlds rice market because a little change in production or consumption brings a huge change in its total trade. A major portion of rice is produced, consumed, and traded by Asian countries. The five top rice exporters are Thailand, Vietnam, India, Pakistan and china accounting for 80% of global rice trade. Of these five exporters Thailand stands in the first position for the past four decades.

Unlike export, the import side is quite fragmented. The top 5 rice importers represent around 30% of the total trade and top 10 importers account for less than 50% of total imports. There are many major importers, including china are from Asia & account for quarter of the total trade. The other major importing regions are Middle East and Africa. These two regions have a fast growing rice market with trade volume increasing from 10 to 20 million tons.

Before ten years, Thailand was the main marketer of jasmine rice. But now Cambodia and Vietnam is the main marketer of jasmine rice. Vietnam has become the biggest competitor in the world market for the jasmine rice. The Jasmine rice is marketed in the China, United States, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Cote d Ivoire. In addition 600-700 thousand tons of rice is mostly exported to three West African countries namely, Senegal, Cote d Ivorie and Ghana.

Our customers are widely spread across the globe. We are going to produce, distribute and market our product across the globe. Cambodia has the ability to promote their rice sectors and become big exporters in the future.
